I am baaaack.....please forgive me my temporary leave of absence, however last week I was just flat out. These renovations seem to be taking all of my time up - how dare they take me away from my blog! But how glad I am of the progress so far. I have finally got used to smelly men being around the place (apart from my husband that is), however the first couple of days it was a bit, shall we say awkward. To be completely honest I didn't know the etiquette with the builders. Should I be available to make sure the job was getting done to my specifications and be there should any questions arise? Or should I just rack off and get out of their way? Do I offer them refreshments? Show them where the lavatory is, or perhaps offer to roll their cigarettes and provide them with an ashtray? (OK maybe not that. I did tactfully provide them with an ashtray though) but I actually found my self running through AM's (The House That AM Built) archives to see what the general rules are besides some common sense. So I have been offering coffee and cold drinks, however I do draw the line at Anzac biscuits. (AM must be such a fabulous woman and I am sure every builders delight!). So today my post is dedicated to shiny, clean surfaces....as I don't seem to have any in my household at present....

That staircase is so glamorous!!
oh those stairs are still my absolute favourite!
My parents are currently in the process of putting in a new kitchen. The old kitchen was removed today. Much to my mother's delight the WHOLE HOUSE IS FILLED WITH DUST. Poor mum. She said she lifted the doona off the bed in their room today and dust flew everywhere. Not happy!
I'm sure the renovations will be worth it, please share some photos when you are complete?

The bathroom and the staircase, are simply stunning!
oh I love all that sparkle and shine!
I love all those pics! Yes, reno'ing can be so messy. We've been slowly renovating our house for the past 4 years...
I can't wait to see pics of your reno!
oh that must be a stairway to heaven. love it! asfor builders... i'll leave if i'm comfortable with them being in my house alone. some i just get a bad vibe about so stay (it usually turns out they screw up, are awful or QUIT midjob, so my gut feelings are def to be listened to!) but most - especially if they're there for the long haul - i'll pop in and out with. i've even left the key with one, he's practically family now he's here so often!!
